Job Summary:
The Executive Director, Market Insights & Analytics and Competitive Intelligence (MIA & CI) will lead the transformation of the Market Insights, Analytics & Competitive Intelligence capabilities of Daichi Sankyo in the newly formed Oncology Business Unit.

Reporting to the Head of Global Oncology Marketing, this position will lead the team to deliver market insight and competitive intelligence that will meet the strategic need of the entire organization through Global Brand Teams (GBT) and other forums. This position will be accountable to develop new ways of doing market insights and competitive intelligence to elevate the capabilities to a “best in industry” level.

In addition to Market Insight and Competitive Intelligence, position will be accountable to deliver forecasts with accuracy to different stakeholders of the company. Position will serve as advisor to Global Brand leads, Head of Global Oncology Marketing and the head of the Oncology Business Unit to influence business decisions through fact-based analysis, customer insights, competitive intelligence and business knowledge. Under his/her leadership, a strong integration with regions will be set up to secure an effective transition and integration between global and regions and to secure full visibility in both ways. He/she will be an efficient communicator by frequent interaction with all internal stakeholders as well as developing new platform where information is easy to access.

Responsibilities:
Insights & Analytics:
  • Develops and implements business insight capability for DS Oncology business unit in alignment with stakeholder priorities
  • Within the development of the Brand Strategy Plan, get the Market Insight team/individuals to develop a validated integrated Market insight plan
  • Secure execution of the plan through robust methodology in a timely manner and through a highly selection of the most expert matter vendors
  • Secure consistency between the different brand teams on way to conduct Market insight and similar framework of key deliverables
  • Develop an integrated plan with regional activities to avoid duplication of efforts including influence on regional MIA for performance tracking methodology
  • Develop a repository of market knowledge for each tumor type that will become a reference document for all Brand team and that will feed the tumor strategic document
Competitive Intelligence:
  • Provides strategic guidance on optimal competitive intelligence model to establish and continuously optimize a centralized competitive intelligence function
  • Develops and implements a Competitive Intelligence capability for Daiichi Sankyo Oncology, in alignment with stakeholder priorities
  • Leads all elements of the newly defined CI model based on consultative engagement with key stakeholders, leading internal intelligence networks, coordinating the communication of intelligence, leading external CI vendors/partners
  • Operate Competitive Intelligence within Daiichi Sankyo SOPs and highest standard of professional conduct
Forecasting:
  • Lead forecasting activity through an integrated process between global and regions for all assets along the chain pf clinical development of the entire oncology portfolio
  • Ensure pull through of market and customer insights into sound forecast assumptions through robust dialogue with Brand team
  • Provide necessary team support to conduct financial assessment of any new R&D opportunities. This includes a continuous improvement effort to simplify those financial assessment
  • Lead financial assessment of any new BD opportunity when occurring
People:
  • Develop the MI&A team to reach a level of expertise.
Qualifications: Successful candidates will be able to meet the qualifications below with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Education/Experience:
  • BA or BS degree is required and an emphasis in health sciences is preferred
  • MBA or other advanced degree is strongly preferred.
  • 12+ years’ pharmaceutical experience, of which at least 4-6 years in marketing research or business analytics in the US is required. Prelaunch or Inline market research experience is strongly preferred. 1- 2 years in a global project or multi countries project role is preferred.
  • Experience in multiple regions preferred. Experience with Japan is required.
  • 2-4 years of analytics experience in the oncology therapeutic area required.
  • 2-3 years’ experience with the pain therapeutic area is preferred.
  • Superior analytical skills are required with an understanding of a broad range of marketing research methodologies; qualitatively and quantitatively.
  • Expertise with required market research studies and methodologies for all lifecycle phases, including but not limited to:
    • Brand personality and naming, positioning, messaging, concepting, targeting/segmentation, forecasting, advertising development, pricing, awareness tracking and usage, advertising effectiveness, patient persistency and loyalty, patient education materials and internet marketing.
  • Proficiency with regional market research suppliers for primary and secondary data and capabilities including contract/networking with vendors necessary to assess performance of products, markets, and companies both in and outside of the US.
Ability to travel up to 30% Global and domestic travel as well as virtual meeting outside of business hours
