Job Summary:

This position is responsible for the daily management and oversight of all Medical Information Center (MIC) operations. The position is accountable for ensuring that the MIC is providing the highest quality customer service in an efficient and compliant manner, and for planning and implementing improvements in MIC customer engagement, operations and the procurement of customer insights. This position is responsible for closely collaborating with other MI&E staff on scientific content development and other Medical Information/MIC related work, to enable the MIC to respond to unsolicited inquiries in a timely and appropriate manner and assure ongoing feedback from the MIC on scientific content needs. The Manager is also responsible for assisting the Head of Medical Information in the strategic planning of MIC services as well as new projects and initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage daily operations and oversee all MIC services and performance.
    • Maintain open, frequent communications with the MIC
    • Lead routine meetings with MIC management and staff
    • Monitor the MIC’s operations and performance to ensure timely, compliant responses to unsolicited requests
    • Monitor and enhance MIC’s KPIs and metrics for service levels
    • Conduct QA monitoring on inquiry handling and documentation
    • Develop and maintain routine analytics/reports
    • Respond to audits
    • Generate reports required by compliance
    • Monitor MI systems
    • Lead systems enhancements; serve as MI&E point of contact for IT
    • Maintain the MI website and continuously refine it
    • Manage MIC forecasting, staffing adjustments and contracts
    • Implement best practices for MI&E/MIC collaboration
    • Serve as key MI&E liaison with CSPV, Commercial QA, GMA, Public Affairs etc. for matters related to the MIC
  • Assist in strategic planning and capabilities development of the MIC, ensuring alignment with MI&E overall strategies, objectives and vision.
  • Lead DSI’s MIC Governance Committee, including but not limited to: leading Committee meetings; ensuring completion of action items by Committee members; Committee planning; correction of MIC deficiencies by the Committee in partnership with the MIC; assuring effective Committee oversight of AE, PQC and Medical Inquiry processing by the MIC and leading Committee site visits. The Manager is responsible for collaborating with other functions, vendors and co-promote partners when applicable regarding the MIC’s work in connection with such vendors and/or co-promote partners. The Manager, with input and guidance from the Head of MI&E, is also responsible for assuring Committee responsiveness to MIC audits and related CAPA completion.
  • Collaborate closely with other MI&E staff on:
    • scientific content review and/or development
    • optimizing MIC services/customer engagement
    • innovative approaches to providing medical information
    • establishing the MIC as a world class center
    • project management and new initiatives
  • Develop and refine robust MIC analytics and reporting capabilities
  • Develop standard, routine MIC reports for internal stakeholders
  • Develop MIC’s customer insight capabilities and reports

Education/Experience:
  • PharmD
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a Medical Information role strongly preferred, including experience in Medical Information Center. Demonstrated success driving effective communications and collaboration across roles, functions and departments.
