Job Summary:

The Sr. Informatics Data Engineer will work on the DSI Informatics Data Architecture team to build foundational data capabilities for R&D Globally. This is a hands-on technical role and we are looking for someone who has a passion for programing & data. The Sr. Informatics Data Engineer will be responsible to build and support Data Lakes, Master Data Management & Data Quality capabilities.

  • Design, Implement and support Data Models, ETLs for Enterprise Data Lakes that provide timely access to large datasets to end users. Build fault tolerant, self-healing, adaptive and highly accurate ETL platforms.
  • Develop the R&D Master Data Management & Reference Data Management platforms from ground up. Maximize business outcomes using MDM/RDM via improved data integrity, visibility, and accuracy.
  • Support and evolve global data platforms for Translational Research (Omics), Clinical Operations, Regulatory & Safety. Architect and enable data technologies, data transformations and automated workflows to enable analysts and data scientists.
  • Create Technical Reference Architectures, Standards and Conventions. Implement & enforce them in Data Integration Projects.
  • Collaborates with domain experts in privacy, security, and compliance to ensure that the R&D data platforms uphold privacy, security, and compliance requirements.

  • Qualified candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university in Computer Science or a related discipline.
  • 7 + years of experience with data integration tools using disparate data sources such as flat files, databases, xml files and/or unstructured data & web services
  • 5 + years of experience in life sciences, pharma or informatics industry
  • 5 + years of experience with Clinical Trials Data, Genomics and Bio Marker Data, Real World Data, Discovery Data etc.
  • 5 + years of experience with Master Data Management, Reference Data Management, Data Profiling, Data Quality Technologies
  • 3 + years of experience with Amazon Web Services (S3, RDS, Red Shift etc.)
  • 3 + years of experience with Big Data Transformation Technologies (Spark, Hadoop, Informatica BDE etc.)
  • Extensive hands on experience with analyzing and designing data models for Data warehousing and Transactional applications with high availability/ scalability & performance
  • Good understanding of: Data Partitioning, Query Optimization & Database Structures
  • Strong in Unix shell/Perl scripting
  • Proven ability to work in a global and highly matrix environment
  • Excellent customer service skills: patience with a strong desire to be helpful
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills: proven ability to assess issues and research solutions while ensuring all assigned incidents/problems are investigated and resolved within agreed timeframes
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • The ability to bring together and work with a team of people with varied backgrounds - business analysts, technical experts, process owners - to articulate technological solutions
  • Provide Subject Matter Expertise for program and projects
