Job Summary:

The individual is primarily responsible for the creation and implementation of programs and initiatives to support the Commercial Leadership Development function at DSI. The vision of the Associate Director, Commercial Leadership Development role is to provide superior Leadership Development for sales and other commercial leaders of Daiichi Sankyo that will enable them to compete and win in a highly competitive and evolving Oncology marketplace. This individual partners with HR and other stakeholders to drive the organization-wide vision and strategy to flawlessly execute a cohesive and comprehensive training and development strategy that will enable Daiichi Sankyo leaders to excel in both their current and future roles in an effort to drive accelerated levels of performance across the U.S. commercial organization.

This role is linked to the Company’s talent management efforts (e.g. learning and development, succession planning) to ensure the right framework exists for leadership strength; and therefore, requires strong collaborative skills. The position is also responsible for supporting the management of enterprise-wide talent (cross-functional/rotational) programs to broaden skillsets of future leaders at DSI. Produces the appropriate analytics and metrics that drive leadership strength ultimately leading to performance.


Organization-Wide Learning and Development Strategic Training Practices:
  • Supports organization-wide Learning and Development imperatives through partnership with HR Learning and Development to design, deliver, and pull-through strategies and initiatives
  • Works with Director of Commercial Leadership Development to evaluate regularly our approach towards a leading Leadership Development Program with focus on the Commercial Business, including our opportunity to build out and integrate with Talent Management more broadly
  • Strong collaboration with cross functional leadership is necessary to identify organizational people strengths and gaps and helps devise deliberate strategies around strengthening and building leadership capability.
  • Stays abreast of competitive trends in the industry to help drive long range planning initiatives.
Commercial Leadership Development:
  • Delivers business-driven action learning and incorporates the developed learning strategies and theories into formalized leadership development curriculum.
  • Facilitates leadership training based on business objectives including Sales first line leaders, sales second line leaders, and other Commercial leaders, as appropriate and needed
  • In partnership with Director, Commercial Leadership Development, has responsibility to design, deploy, and execute Management Development programs (1st and 2nd line leaders)
  • Uses feedback from the Company’s Talent Reviews, when & where appropriate, and helps build & deliver the appropriate plans/curriculum to support emerging business needs including preparing our existing leaders for our ongoing transformation to an Oncology organization.
  • Develops ad hoc materials to support Leadership & Management Development goals & objectives for pull through & continuum and is deployed to field for more individualized leadership development, including attending field rides and team meetings as needed
  • Works closely with corporate and field leadership on leadership immersion activities (e.g. POAs, National Meetings etc.).
  • Responsible for vendor management, when appropriate, for development and/or delivery of additional training initiatives.
Operationalizing Leadership Initiatives
  • Analyzes appropriate metrics and tracking mechanisms to measure overall leadership effectiveness and programs ongoing recommendations for program evolution.
  • Supports Director of Sales Leadership Development with ensuring Sales Leadership Development Programs can be integrated into other key areas like Managed Markets, Home Office, etc.
  • Supports in the analysis & communication of metrics that evaluate the successes of the program, and the benefits of the program to Talent development & DSI
  • Ensure integration into existing Talent initiatives, strong tie to our business outcomes and clear expectations for the individual
Ability to travel up to 50%.

Qualifications: Successful candidates will be able to meet the qualifications below with or without a reasonable accommodation.

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university required. ; Master’s Degree preferred
  • 7 years of overall related experience with 5+ years of experience in Leadership Training & Development and/or Sales Leadership (supervisory) positions (DM, RBD, etc.) in the Healthcare or Pharmaceutical Industry required
  • 2 years of experience designing and/or delivering and facilitating training workshops including Leadership Development and Management programs preferred
  • Experience leading District/Region-wide and functional initiatives/projects preferred
