Job Summary
The Clinical Nurse Professional (CNP) role is a position that is field based and is comprised of nurses working under the general direction of the Associate Director of CNP. The CNP is responsible for educating HCP/clinics w/ infusion and related education for prescribed DSI products. The CNP has interactions with commercial teams sales, marketing, managed markets, patient advocacy, and medical counterparts, MSLs & Medical Affairs. The CNP supports field sales on providing the best possible outcomes and service for our customers and serves as the disease state and product expert for their assigned territories. The CNP serves as a resource to clinical leaders by identifying educational needs of staff and implements programs to fulfill knowledge gaps. The CNP will also establish ongoing relationships with local and regional advocacy organizations and societies as assigned. This collaborative approach will serve to provide education and enhanced clinical care, and to build strategic relationships with key customers.

A CNP is bound by the product label for all promotional efforts, and in the interaction with non-commercial counterparts. The ideal candidate will be a RN w/ previous relevant clinical as well as pharmaceutical industry experience calling on different levels of the health care providers (HCPs) in both the hospital and clinic/office setting. Excellent organizational, creative and analytical problem solving and influential skills are required. This individual must be flexible and adaptable to new and constant changing situations.

Provides education to health care professionals about disease states and specified DSI products in the medical community within an assigned geographical area in accordance with DSI general direction and policy, focused on the assigned targeted segments (i.e: Hematology/Oncology, Gastroenterology, Nephrology, Hospital Pharmacy, OB/GYN and Cardiology).
  • Develops strong, long-term relationships with clinical personnel, advocacy organizations, key nursing organizations, and medical societies focused on the DSI targeted segments.
  • Ensures appropriate and compliant utilization of product and disease state education as it relates to DSI products.
  • effectively partner with sales and key customers to contribute to overall sales objectives
  • Executes disease state educational presentations and on label product presentations for in-office/in-hospital educational programs to key customers, medical societies or patient advocacy groups that are guided and designed to address clinical knowledge or product gaps.
  • Must be able to educate and use multiple approaches to explain complex and difficult material and use experiences to illustrate idea and facilitate understanding while maintaining the ability to stimulate customer interest.

Collaborates to identify and strategizes on how to access key customers.
  • Develops and executes geographical based strategic and tactical plans to meet targeted customer and business needs.
  • Communicates and coordinates efforts with different members of the sales team, Patient Advocacy, and Managed Markets team as part of an integrated team approach.
  • Monitor, collect, and communicate to field counterparts on customer insights, focused on the assigned targeted segments, regarding their experience with DSI marketed products.
  • Collaborate with managed care counterparts or MSLs to provide ongoing clinical updates that are impacted by reimbursement and/or clinical guidelines.

Maintain an open dialogue with key opinion leaders in the targeted and assigned market segments and develop product champions for promoted products.
  • Participate in developing, recruiting, training, and coaching the nursing promotional speakers’ bureau.
  • Work with commercial counterparts to target placement and recruitment of attendees to speaker programs.

Identifies and contributes to the development of nursing/HCP specific tools to fulfill customer needs to include, but not limited to, patient educational aids, product reference aids and slide deck content topics.
  • Work collaboratively with key nursing personnel and societies to identify opportunities to develop and publish important clinical content as it relates to DSI marketed programs.

Successful candidates will be able to meet the qualifications below with or without a reasonable accommodation.

  • Qualified candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or RN: Must have an active RN License but does not have to hold a license in the state(s) assigned.
  • 3+ years in the pharmaceutical industry preferred, ideally Hematology/Oncology, Nephrology, and Gastroenterology or relevant experience. Experience with anemia management strongly preferred and infusion nursing experience highly desired.
  • Strong clinical expertise and ability to articulate and communicate complex information.
  • Experience in working with cross-functional teams to coordinate and execute plans and projects.
  • Established record of consistent achievement of goals and objectives.
  • Demonstrated track record of achieving/exceeding responsibilities, goals and objectives.
  • Demonstrated track record of influencing, negotiation and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrates an in-depth knowledge of the nephrology, hematology, gastroenterology, cardiac, or women’s health market
  • Demonstrated customer literacy and the ability to interpret clinical and market/sales data.
  • Demonstrates expert knowledge in related disease states and the ability to serve as a technical clinical resource to the healthcare professional community.
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of FDA regulations on the promotion of pharmaceuticals and the reporting of adverse drug reactions.
  • Working knowledge of the targeted geographical area preferred.
  • Identifies opportunities and develops relationships with current and future health care providers.

Must have a valid driver’s license with a driving record that meets company requirements.
