Daiichi Sankyo, Inc. is currently seeking a Director, Employee Relations. The Director has responsibility for employee relations programs, policies and procedures for the DSAC organization.

The role is responsible for end-to-end processing of employee relations concerns, including standard operating procedures, and the timely handling of employee relations cases to ensure consistent application of personnel policies and procedures. Helps counsel employees/managers on issues related to performance, termination guidelines and works with Legal Affairs on EEO issues. Identifies themes and trends and proactively works with key stakeholders including HR Leadership Team, Centers of Expertise (COE) and HR Business Partner (HRBP) team to identify resolutions. Provides Employment Practices metrics to Sr. Dir., HRBPs and EP and VP, HR.

S/he possesses a comprehensive understanding of the employment laws driving HR practices and requirements. Serves as a member of the joint Investigative Team, with Legal & Compliance, to ensure consistent interpretation of relevant Laws and Regulations and to support the uniform application of Employee Relations procedures in compliance with Regulations and Company standards.


Strategic Execution of Employment Practices
  • Aligns and drives key employee relations initiatives with the overarching Vision 2025 and People-Management strategy.
  • Identifies and monitors trends, benchmarks and performance standards to provide qualitative assessments of Company environment based on Employee Relations cases.
  • Partners with Legal and Compliance to ensure disciplinary documents meet internal DSAC needs, legal requirements, and external benchmark standards, and that organizational requirements are met on local, state and federal laws, including adherence to State and Federal posting requirements and the creation of the Affirmative Action Plan (AAP).
  • Develops and creates communication plans to support the implementation of programs and practices.

Operational Execution – DSAC Organization
  • Oversees and executes the long-term operations strategy, methodology, and management of Employee Relations cases, including identification of process improvements and efficiencies.
  • Effectively investigates (including the review of employment documents, conducting interviews and performance improvement plans) and manages complex employee relations issues for employees such as complaints, harassment allegations, and work/performance issues while ensuring legal compliance, leveraging employee abilities and managing risk.
  • Implements operational reports, including quality audits, standard and ad hoc reports in order to identify issues and take actions to achieve performance goals and targets.
  • Conducts exit interviews; analyzes trends in turnover, hiring, promotions, separations and grievances to determine action needed to adjust unfavorable trends.
  • Partners with Talent Acquisition and hiring manager to ensure diverse and inclusive candidates slate and interview panel. Provides informed, creative recommendations for workforce planning.
  • May conduct formal and informal training and/or provides input on HR related topics such as diversity, harassment, discrimination and performance counseling
  • Provides leadership, direction, coaching, feedback and, where appropriate, discipline to subordinate team members.
  • Assumes HRBP client responsibility, as needed
Policy Administration
  • Reviews and updates HR Policies to align with industry best practices and legal requirements.
  • Interprets, analyzes and advises on Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and Affirmative Action (AA) policies and regulations within the Daiichi Sankyo commercial organization.
  • Reviews all affinity programs within the within the Daiichi Sankyo commercial organization.

Successful candidates will be able to meet the qualifications below with or without a reasonable accommodation.

  • Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university, in a related field; Master’s degree (MA) or JD or equivalent preferred.
  • A proven leader with 8 to 10+ years of Employment Practices and / or Human Resources experience, with strong practical results in employee relations areas, preferably in the pharmaceutical industry. Management experience strongly preferred.
  • Candidate must be an excellent facilitator who can demonstrate a positive track record for resolving conflicts between different parties.
  • Ability to influence without authority and champion employee issues. Highly collaborative and comfortable working with Employees, Management, Compliance, Legal Affairs and HR.
  • Experience leading enterprise-wide and functional initiatives/projects that include training for employees.
  • Ability to travel 20%
