Job Summary:

The Director, Team Leader, Medical Information (MI) is accountable for managing and leading all MI staff, as well as establishing and executing the vision, mission, goals and strategic imperatives for the MI group. The Director oversees the full spectrum of work of the MI group, including (but not limited to): development and provision of all scientific content; oversight of all Medical Information Center (MIC) operations (and the Governance Committee); MI&E Congress Planning and Medical booths; Annual Business Planning; collaboration with other MI&E and MA functions and other departments; staff hiring, deployment, performance and development; improving efficiencies and organizational capabilities and effectiveness; ensuring the appropriate organizational structure and governance is in place; assuring MI staff has an integral role on all applicable committees/working groups (e.g., Medical Affairs Teams, Launch Planning Teams, Medical Product Teams, etc.).

  • Oversee all scientific content development (e.g., Medical Response Documents, Patient/Caregiver Information/References, Slide Kits, Videos, AMCP Dossiers, FAQs, Testimonies, Executive Summaries, custom dossiers and data compilations, submissions to guidelines providers, as well as compendia and pathways). Ensures content is of the highest quality and scientific rigor and that it is compliant with all relevant laws, regulations and DSI policies and procedures.
  • Accountable for overseeing the management and refinement of the Medical Information Website as well as the development of digital assets and solutions for the MI function and its points of interface with external customers.
  • Directs MI group planning and follow-through for congresses, including Medical Information booths and other scientific booths.
  • Oversees the management of all MIC operations, including staffing; contracts and finance/budgets; QA and Audits; Reporting/Analytics; Key Productivity Indicators and Service Levels; Compliance; technology/systems; customer relations and insights; enhancement of services, capabilities, technology and customer excellence.
  • Ensure that each member of the MI group plays an integral role on various committees and working groups (e.g., Medical Affairs teams, Launch Planning Teams, Medical Product Teams.
  • Ensure that all MI staff members rigorously drive consistent, unified medical information (including associated data interpretation/medical position) across US Medical Affairs (and GMA when applicable).
  • Raise awareness across leadership in other departments on the MI function’s roles and responsibilities, relevant policies and procedures, medical inquiry management and the MIC (etc.)
  • Lead or participate in projects/initiatives within MI&E, USMA and across functions, as assigned.
  • Assure effective, timely knowledge and information transfer between the MI group and other functions in MI&E, as well as all other functions across USMA and other departments.
  • Serve as integral member of the MI&E Governance and Leadership Team.

Partner with leaders across MA, assuring close collaboration of the MI group with MR&S, FMA and HEOR to: meet the needs of customers; identify information gaps; leverage customer insights; align on scientific information related to medical strategies, scientific platforms, narratives, value propositions and place of product in therapy; maintain sharp focus on the customer.

PharmD, PhD or MD

Minimum of 7+ years of experience in Medical Affairs with expertise in Medical Information. Significant experience in formal staff management and leadership is required. Proven track record of working successfully with cross-functional teams, as well as collaborating with and influencing leadership.
