Job Summary
The National Strategic Planning Manager (NSPM) is a developmental role in sales management reporting directly to the National Sales Director position. The NSPM is responsible for the implementation of tactics to drive the sales performance of the Oncology division. This role ensures the activity of selling and promoting assigned products is conducted in a highly ethical and knowledgeable manner by supporting training efforts pushing down training throughout the Nation. This position can assist in various capacities across the division including, but not limited to, interim management support in an employee’s absence, leading divisional development and deployment initiatives, planning Sales meetings and presenting sales analysis in preparation for business strategy sessions. This position is remote and it can be located anywhere within the US.

  • Supports and ensures consistent field execution of Area strategic and tactical sales plans. Maintains and submits appropriate records and reports as directed by the EBD. Assists Region Business Directors (RBDs) with the implementation of strategic plans to coach and develop District Managers (DMs) with regard to the management of Representative within the Area. Aids in the preparation, delivery and facilitation of National, Area and Regional meetings. Participates in national task forces to provide feedback, solutions and direction on organizational initiatives that may have impact on the field either regionally or nationally. Partners with the Sales Training team to pull-through national training initiatives throughout the Area.
  • Drives the execution of approved marketing plans and promotional campaigns with the NSD, RBDs and DMs/RMs. Works closely with co-promotion partners to ensure a cohesive and synergistic approach is implemented. Provides input and assists in the development of managed care strategy with NSD and RBDs. Monitors execution of all pull through strategies. Coordinates communication and direction on state government strategy and ensures follow through activities are implemented. Manages and tracks projects from outside vendors.
  • Partner with Sales Operation leadership team to ensure the implementation of effective call plans, maximizing opportunity based upon oncology division expectations. Conducts sales analyses for the division inclusive of product potential, sales coverage, market size, penetration, competitor assessments, marketing practices and trends. Uses data to prepare forecasts and recommendations to National Sales Director. Gathers data on competitors and analyzes their strategies, prices, sales, and method of operation. Compiles and analyzes statistical data on past sales and trends to forecast future trends and state-of-the-art changes. Present analysis and recommendations to Sales Leadership.
  • Leads new hire orientations and mentors new DMs. Implements training strategy and takes part in training regional sales teams. Assists with Talent Management where appropriate, by supporting and implementing Area talent plans.
  • Assist NSD by monitoring monthly Sales A&P and Operational budget reports. Makes recommendations for spend to maximize revenue and return on investment.

BA/BS required; MBA or MS preferred.

5 years Pharmaceutical industry experience required, including no less than three years of field management experience (DM experience preferred).

50% or greater travel (10% Nationally and 40% Regionally)
